Servo motors live at the harsh edge of automation—high vibration, continuous flex, encoder feedback screaming at high frequency, and drives demanding tighter EMI control. The servo motor connector that used to mean “a separate power plug + a signal plug” is now rapidly becoming a single hybrid circular connector.
M23 and M40 Take the Lead
For compact drives and robotic joints, the M23 circular connector remains the workhorse: 6–9 pin power inserts up to 30 A / 630 V, 12–19 pin signal inserts for encoder and resolver feedback, all in an IP67 metal shell with 360° shielding.

The takeaway: if you are specifying a servo drive connector today and still separating power and feedback into two interfaces, you are leaving cable cost, EMC margin, and cabinet space on the table. Hybrid M23/M40 is no longer premium—it is the new default.
